Barred Owls are known for their call that sounds like the phrase: “Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you-all?” Pamela Dimeler knows this sound well, having spent many hours observing and documenting their behaviors in the wild. In an absorbing, multi-media program, Pam will show photos and videos of her experiences with this secretive, unique and very inquisitive owl in Delaware county, including a close encounter with two juvenile Barred owlets. She’ll discuss the dangers that they face such as the destruction of their habitat and the impacts of rodenticides, and share her love of these awesome avian predators.

Pam Dimeler is a photographer and videographer, specializing in wildlife and focusing on owls and raptors. She nurtures a love of nature and animals, and has photographed birds intensely all around the region. She documented adventures with Great Horned Owls in a local forest, and joined legions of camera-toting fans of the renowned Red-tailed Hawks that nested at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia for more than a decade.

All are welcome – members and non-members – to our program meetings.
