All are welcome to join the summer bird walk at John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, an urban oasis in southwest Philadelphia.
We’ll stroll through warbler woods and scan the picturesque landscape from the Big Boardwalk looking for Marsh Wren, Yellow Warbler, Willow Flycatcher, Baltimore Oriole, Barn and Tree Swallows, Red-winged Blackbirds and more. Hawks, Osprey, vultures and gulls may be soaring overhead. There is always something interesting to see at Heinz Refuge!
Terrain is flat and mostly even. Bring binoculars and a water bottle to stay hydrated. Prepare for hot summer conditions. Meet at the entrance arch near the Visitor Center.
