Event Type

All are welcome to join the early fall bird walk at John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, an urban oasis in southwest Philadelphia.

We’ll stroll through warbler woods and scan the picturesque landscape from the Big Boardwalk looking for migrants on the move, like warblers, flycatchers, swallows, raptors, and more! There is always something interesting to see at Heinz Refuge.

Terrain is flat and mostly even. Bring binoculars and a water bottle to stay hydrated. Prepare for varied weather conditions – often quite warm in September. Meet at the entrance arch near the Visitor Center.

Leader: Debbie Beer (610) 955-4098.
