Event Type

BCDC blitzes the Philadelphia area City Nature Challenge (CNC) with sunset birding – and iNatting – along the Delaware River. We’ll start at Governor Printz Park in Essington, where we’ll look for Osprey, Bald Eagles, Purple Martins, swallows, herons, terns, gulls, and more. From there we’ll caravan north up the river to check several spots along Hog Island Road for birds and nature.

Nature-lovers of all ages are welcome to participate in the CNC bioblitz. This worldwide community science initiative runs April 24-27, using iNaturalist to document wildlife everywhere! To join the CNC fun, download the free iNaturalist app onto your smart phone before you arrive. Submit photos of plants, fungi, insects, birds, and all-things nature on-site. Anytime during the 4-day timeframe, explore your favorite corners of Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Bucks counties in PA, or Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties in NJ, to support the Philadelphia area project.

Meet at the water’s edge near the open ampitheater in Governor Printz Park – the park is small, and the leader with binoculars will be easy to spot. All are welcome; you don’t have to be a member of BCDC. Leader: Debbie Beer (610-955-4098).
